Kick-Start Your Fitness Program With A Personal Trainer
It’s undisputed that the best way to get in shape is to take physical exercise. But if you want to be toning up, losing weight, getting fitter or improving your health in general then the exercise needs to be done regularly, not in fits and starts. That means getting yourself into a routine and sticking to it.
For many, that can be a problem. We can all think of excuses not to exercise regularly. I don’t have time, I’m tired, I can’t be bothered getting out the equipment, I’ll do it later/tomorrow, are all excuses many of us use to put off exercising (me included). A great way to commit to a regular exercise routine is to hire a personal trainer, who will help kick-start your program and motivate you.
Yes, personal trainers are expensive, and few people can afford to get one on a long-term basis. You can, however, hire a personal trainer for a short period, say two weeks. That can be enough to get you in the right mindset for getting fit – after all, if you have an appointment with a personal trainer, especially if he’s coming to your home, then you have to follow through – the usual excuses won’t work. Once you get into a routine and begin to feel and see the benefits of exercise, then it will be easier to carry on by yourself.
If you don’t want to book home sessions with a personal trainer then another way is to check out your local gym and see if there is one-on-one coaching. Again, it doesn’t have to be long term if finance is a problem. A few sessions may be all you need. The personal trainer at the gym will guide you through the best exercises, equipment and routines to follow, and the end result will be a tailor-made fitness program that you can do on your own.
If you do decide to hire a personal trainer, check their credentials first. They should have the paperwork to show they are a certified instructor, plus they need to have insurance, and training in medical procedures like first aid. Ask for testimonials from previous or current clients. Talk to the trainer about what will be expected, on both sides, and what type of exercises they will have you do. Most personal trainers will be happy to give you a trial session where you can judge how you feel with them.
Once you’re happy with your personal trainer, then you can take that first step towards great health!
